MES Family Communication

MES Family Communication from Principal Kelly 10/12/23

Good Afternoon,

The events of the past week in Israel and the Gaza Strip have been horrific. Due to the terrorist attack by Hamas against Israel, Israel has declared war in retaliation. Millions of civilians including children and families are suffering and continue to be in harm’s way because of this. We keep them all in our thoughts and in our hearts. We hope for a peaceful resolution to this conflict. We know that many of you in our community are also experiencing fear, dread, anxiety, and other unimaginable feelings as you are trying to provide day-to-day supports for your own children and families. We see you and feel your pain. Please reach out if you or your child needs support, and we can arrange a time to work with Ms. Lauren.

Please see some important notes below on some additional MES logistics.

In partnership,

Kelly Walter

Play Structure Update

Our play structure is open! Thank you all for your patience and support. As I mentioned, the structure is open before school and there will be supervision during this time. Students played safely this morning and it was nice to have some additional parents supporting with supervision.

Your students have been excited to play and have learned our temporary firms. Please review the video below introducing the firms to students. These will be revised over the next several weeks as we observe what needs to be included to keep our students safe. We will also ask for student input to ensure by-in.

Before/After School

Now that the playground is installed we can open the upper gate on McGraw to access the play court. The gate to Ella Bailey will remained closed in the morning due to limited supervision. Students may enter through the play structure gate on McGraw or through the Commons entrance on Smith. See map below.

Another important reminder- please do not drop students from cars on McGraw or Smith. If you are dropping your students, use the bus lane on 28th in front of the building. Be sure to pull off of the road as cars go by quickly.
