Start of Day and Drop-Off

We have more and more students arriving late in the morning. The 2nd bell rings at 7:55 am and we give a grace period of 5 min. until students are considered late. All doors will be locked at 8:00 am and parents must accompany late arrivals to sign in at the office. The only access to the building for late arrivals is the front door. The start of the school day is an important time for learning and connecting. Please be at school on time!

This is a repeat, but continues to happen. Please do not park in the bus lane facing south on 28th Ave during the school day. We have families pull their cars up in the space, facing the wrong direction and it is a safety issue. If you plan to drop your student, please come north on 28th or park your car in the neighborhood and walk your students to the courtyard.

Magnolia Elementary School (MES) Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Update

Our next big event is our MES PTA Light Celebration and Dance Party, Fri Dec 8 at 6:00pm

Location: MES School Commons (Cafeteria) and Gym. Entry is from the Smith St. entrance.

Get ready to light up the winter night at our first MES Light Celebration and Dance Party! Families are invited to host their own arts and crafts stations, sharing the beauty of their unique holiday celebration and cultural traditions (Diwali, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Hanukkah and more!). If you are interested in hosting arts and crafts station please email the organizers. We are also looking for volunteers for this event, please email our volunteer coordinator if interested.

We also have a few ways to give back during the holidays!

  • From Dec 1 to Dec 13 support the MES PTA Winter Coat Drive by bringing in your gently used men’s, women’s and children’s winter coats, hats, and gloves.
  • From Dec 3 to Dec 7 visit Snapdoodle Toys at 120 N 85th St Seattle, WA 98103 and mention Magnolia Elementary when checking out to have 20% of your purchases donated back to the MES PTA. (does not work for online orders but you can phone in your order and mention MES.)
  • From Dec 10 to Dec 14 grab dinner at Tutta Bella and mention the code EasyAsPieMES to have 20% of your purchases donated back to the MES PTA. You can use the code in person or in the Tutta Bella online ordering app. (but not 3rd party applications eg. ubereats, doordash, etc.)
